Artist In Residence Calls for Submission

and Open House on April 21, 2014 at  1:00 & 3:00pm
Application Deadline May 1, 2014 for Osprey Village Storefront Studio & Fern Crescent Residence

Maple Ridge, BC: The Artist in Residence Program in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows invites Canadian artistic teams and collectives  in all disciplines including writers, composers, visual artists, musicians, poets, choreographers, theatre artists, video, multi-disciplinary and performance artists, etc. and from any part of British Columbia or Canada to submit proposals for two studio residencies Ė Osprey Village Retail Storefront, Pitt Meadows (approx. two years) and Fern Crescent Residence, Maple Ridge (three years).  We are seeking proposals for exciting new projects that promote meaningful exchange between the community and artists and opportunities for the community to engage with the artistic process and production in some capacity.  The deadline for submission is May 1, 2014 and details are available on the District of Maple Ridge and Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows Arts Councilís websites.  

An Open House for both studio locations will be scheduled for April 21 at 1:00 - 2:30pm, Osprey Village, 10973 Barnston View Road and 3:00-4:30pm at 23740 Fern Crescent, Maple Ridge.  Those interested can see the inside of both properties being considered in their proposals and applicants are encouraged to bring their questions.  Please RSVP by emailing submissions@mapleridge.ca

Osprey Village storefront is a brand new retail studio residence that offers artist teams/collectives with an opportunity to engage the public similar to Granville Island style thatís located in a new residential subdivision next to Katzie First Nation reserve in Pitt Meadows.  Fern Crescent residence is an older house nestled in the natural beauty of Silver Valley in Maple Ridge that has popular recreation areas including Maple Ridge Park, Malcolm Knapp Research Forest and Golden Ears Park.  Both spaces are 100% subsidized (excluding utilities, tenant improvements and/or strata fees) in exchange for a minimum number of community art engagement hours on approved projects/programs developed in collaboration between staff, artist(s) and community groups/centres.  For details and proposal instructions please visit the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Parks & Leisure Services website.
