Fern Crescent Artist Studio and/or Live-in Residence Call for Submission

and Open House on June 24 at 5:30pm

Maple Ridge, BC: The Artist in Residence Program in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows invites Canadian artists and artistic teams in all disciplines including writers, composers, visual artists, musicians, poets, choreographers, theatre artists, video, multi-disciplinary and performance artists and from any part of British Columbia or Canada to submit proposals for a three year studio AND/OR live-in residency located on Fern Crescent, Maple Ridge.  It is a single detached older house (approx.. 3000 sq. ft.) nestled in the natural beauty of Silver Valley in Maple Ridge that is close to popular recreation areas including Maple Ridge Park, Malcolm Knapp Research Forest and Golden Ears Park.  We are seeking proposals for interesting new projects that promote meaningful community engagement through artistic opportunities.  The deadline for submission is July 4, 2014 and details are available on the websites at http://www.mrpmparksandleisure.ca/364/Calls-for-Submissions  and Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows Arts Council.  

An Open House for this location is scheduled for June 24 at 5:30pm (23740 Fern Crescent).  Those interested can see the property and applicants are encouraged to bring their questions.  The residency is now studio and/or live-in options.  Please RSVP by emailing submissions@mapleridge.ca


The space is 100% rent subsidized (excluding utilities, insurance, tenant improvements etc.) in exchange for a minimum number of community art engagement hours on approved projects/programs developed in collaboration between staff, artist(s) and community groups/centres. The Artist Residence Program is operated by the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Parks and Leisure Services.  The Department manages parks, facility operations and provides for the delivery of recreation and cultural services in addition to providing opportunities that build individual, neighbourhood and community capacity.
