60°North: SHETLAND

January 10 - February 28, 2015

Paintings in this exhibition were inspired by Jeff Wilson’s recent artist residency at The Booth, in the Shetland Islands. Located some 250 kilometres north of Scotland’s mainland, the unique culture and relative isolation of the Shetlands show clear expression in this recent body of work.

Free Event. All are welcome.

Drawing Workshop with Gaby Morrison
Saturday, January 24, 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Fee including materials: $15.00
Ages 16+

Learn to draw fleece, yarn and fabric under the skilful but relaxed tutelage of Gaby Morrison. Using graphite, coloured pencils, erasers and felt pens you’ll explore different techniques for drawing the elements that form fabric.  In this introductory workshop, participants will analyze and sketch a fragment of tartan or other woven pattern, or an elaborate knitted or crocheted material.  If you prefer, bring a piece of fabric that intrigues and inspires you. Come explore, share and create in a gallery environment. Remember, if can draw a line, or write, you can draw!

Pre-registration required. Call (604) 476-2787.
