The MapleRidgeArtGallery
has been providing youth exhibits and encouraging the development of art
education in School District 42 since the
early 90’s. It is our wish to continue to grow with the needs of the community
in mind. With this intention, we have taken on more of the challenges facing
educators at all levels in school system, as well as provide a place of
community pride for those youth in high school focusing on their future
interests and direction.
With support form School District 42, the Hamber Foundation at the Maple
Ridge Pitt Meadows Arts Council, we have worked with professional educators to
create kits for 3 different education levels: elementary, intermediate and
secondary. Each kit is designed to provide several lesson plans for district
educators to choose from; a resource guide of further materials for research,
art supplies, a list of vocabulary terms and image samples of environmental art
work with background information on the art work and artist.
The objective of
the kits is to provide a resource for which would produce works of art with a
specified theme that could then be displayed in an annual School
District 42 gallery exhibit. For example, this year the theme of
our smART Kits will look at environmental art and its social relevance
If you are
