Member Group Grants
Mandate of Granting Programs:
The MRPM
Arts Council perceives that their mandate as to grants is to support local art
students and arts organizations financially to an extent that is fiscally prudent,
and that the Arts Council will encourage and mentor member groups in engaging
in the grant application process.
The Arts
Council has now been informed of their BCAC funding for 2010/2011 and will
receive a 46% cut in support for our programs.
In the past the Arts Council used 90% of this funding to support three
granting programs: Arts Scholarships, Community Initiative Grant(s) and Member
Group Grants.
For 2010/11
the Board of the Arts Council has decided to dedicate 100% of the BCAC funds it
receives to continue two of these programs.
The $4,000 commitment remains to support student scholarships and $6,000
(= $67% of previous level of support available) will be distributed to Member
Groups.
To align
applications with the notification and receipt of BCAC funding to the MRPMAC,
the application timeline will be changed annually from the previous September
deadline to a March intake.
