Community art lovers founded the Maple Ridge Art Gallery Society in 1982. By April of 2003 the Maple Ridge Art Gallery moved into its current location, within the Maple Ridge Art Centre and Theatre (The ACT) and by 2005 the operation of the gallery came under the guidance of the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Arts Council (MRPMAC).
The Maple Ridge Art Gallery (MRAG) is a non-profit community art space, located inside The ACT and dedicated in its mission to engage and educate the public in visual arts and professional art practice. The focus of our gallery and acceptance of submitted proposals will be evaluated and based on a cohesive, strong, thematic structure for the purposes of art education. Our intent is to connect with the public through tours, workshops, artist talks, opening receptions and introduce the practice of art by professional artists.
Funding is provided by the generous support of individuals, Corporations, community businesses and the City of Maple Ridge. The gallery also raises money to support its programs through gift shop sales, gallery sales, fundraising activities, donations and gallery tours.
