The Maple Ridge Art Gallery

About Us

The Maple Ridge Art Gallery Society was founded by community art lovers in 1982. It was in April of 2003 that the Maple Ridge Art Gallery moved into its current location within the Maple Ridge Art Centre and Theatre (The ACT), and by 2005, the operation of the gallery came under the guidance of the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Arts Council (MRPMAC).

The Maple  Ridge  Art  Gallery (MRAG) is a non-profit community art gallery located inside The ACT. It is dedicated in its mission to engage and educate the community in visual arts and professional art practice. The focus of our gallery and acceptance of submitted proposals will be evaluated and based on a cohesive, strong, thematic structure for the purposes of art education. Our intent is to connect with the public through tours, workshops, artist talks, and opening receptions, as well as to introduce the practice of art by professional artists.

Funding is provided by the generous support of individuals, corporations, community businesses, and the City of Maple Ridge. The gallery also raises money to support its programs through gift shop sales, gallery sales, fund raising activities, donations, and gallery tours.

Our Mission

1. Engage the public in the visual arts and visual literacy through ongoing exhibits, educational tours, workshops, and Artist lectures. In the last year, the Gallery has welcomed just under 7,500 visitors.

2. Support emerging and mid career artist by providing a place for them to exhibit as well as a retail outlet in the Gift shop. Our mandate is to include one exhibit per year for a local Arts group and an exhibit for a District 42 School.
