May 16, 2007, Maple Ridge, BC – Only in its first year, Beyond Tradition, has already engaged the Lower Mainland arts community, as well as new and seasoned art enthusiasts, with an innovative, multi-disciplined exhibition of modern and contemporary art.  The exhibit features works of more than 30 acclaimed and emerging artists.

Beyond Tradition is one of the most innovative and exciting shows we have presented since I started at the gallery in January of 2006”, says Laura Moodie the Curator of the gallery.  The show brings a talented group of artists who each represent a distinctive approach and raw talent that together showcase an outstanding selection of artworks that push new boundaries.

Beyond Tradition offers a meeting of minds and art forms where the latest developments in contemporary art and modern works can be viewed, appreciated, discussed and purchased.  Museum quality works by British Columbian artists include the latest from contemporary cutting-edge artists in a variety of artistic styles and media including drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, video, installation and mixed media.  An eclectic public exposition, the exhibit will appeal to all who appreciate art – from distinguished collectors to first-time buyers.
