GENERAL INQUIRIES

  • Yes, public washrooms are located on both the main and upper level of The ACT. All washrooms contain an accessible stall. A dedicated accessible Unisex washroom is located on the main floor.

  • Please contact the Ticket Centre at info@mract.org if you have lost or found an item. If items in our Lost and Found are not claimed after two months, they will be donated to a local charity.

  • We don’t have a formal dress code so feel free to dress up or stay casual!

  • Yes! We are wheelchair accessible and offer infra-red hearing reinforcement system for those with hearing impairments. Please notify the Ticket Centre at info@mract.org if you require these or additional services at the time of booking.

  • The Mainstage is an intimate, 486-seat proscenium style theatre. Studio Theatre is a “black box” style theatre measuring 2,311 square feet. The number of seats varies depending on configuration and staging requirements. Seating plans are available for up to 150 people. View our seat maps here.

TICKET CENTRE

  • All purchases must be made online at theactmapleridge.org. If you need assistance, email info@mract.org or call 604.476.2787. Visa, Mastercard, Debit, Cash and cheque are accepted. Arts Program information and registration is located under the Arts Programs top line menu above.

  • Online tickets sales end 1 hr prior to showtime. In person tickets are available until 15 minutes before showtime.

  • Email the Ticket Centre at info@mract.org, or call 604.476.2787, as soon as possible, prior to the performance or event.

  • Youth tickets (ages 24 and under) can be purchased for 15 dollars for ACT Presents presentations at the Ticket Centre only, with ID, two weeks prior to show date and based on availability.

  • Tickets are emailed to you for printing at home or displaying on your phone for scanning. Tickets can also be mailed to your residence for a nominal fee. Pick up is also available at the Box Office.

  • Yes. Every attendee at ACT Presents performances must have a ticket, including babes-in-arms, unless otherwise stated.

  • Ticket prices vary by performance. Please check the show page for pricing.

  • There are no refunds on ticket purchases. All sales are final. Read our terms and conditions for more details.


GALLERY

  • No, the ACT Art Gallery is free to the public. Donations are welcome.

  • Artists who are interested in showing their work at The ACT can fill out an exhibition proposal. Alternatively, The ACT presents an annual open-call juried exhibition every November-December. Details about our juried exhibition are released in May and posted on the Gallery web page.

  • The ACT Gallery typically presents 5 exhibitions per year, with a balance between professional artists and community art exhibitions.


GALLERY GIFT SHOP

  • The Gift Shop carries original artwork as well as art cards, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, basketry, glass, wood, bath and body products and a few specialty food items. Stock is constantly changing so visit often to find out what new goods have arrived.

  • Artists and artisans interested in selling their work through the shop can submit their work for consideration through our online portal here.


CAFÉ/BAR

  • Preorders can happen online prior to the event or food/drink can be purchased at the event using Credit (Visa/Mastercard), Cash or Tap (Debit). Pin pad Debit is not available.

  • Yes, you can. Pre-order before the event at the café/bar. Pick up your order at intermission.


ARTS LEARNING PROGRAMS

  • Yes. We have a great selection of adult-only programming including Life Drawing and ArtBAR.


ACCESSIBILITY

The ACT Arts Centre has received a certification level of RHF Accessibility Certified Gold from the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC) program, effective March 19, 2018.

  • The Main Stage Theatre has 8 reserved accessible seats for patrons in wheelchairs and those that cannot use stairs. To purchase accessible seats and for specific seating or accessibility inquiries, please select these seats when booking or email our Ticket Centre at info@mract.org.

    Walkers, strollers, and carry car seats are not allowed to remain in the Main Stage Theatre in accordance with fire safety regulations. Walkers, strollers and wheelchairs are not permitted in the balcony in accordance with fire safety regulations (see the seating map). The Studio Theatre has no stairs and contains flexible seating. Please see our Ushers or Ticket Centre Staff when you arrive at the theatre if you require accommodation or assistance. We have a limited number of booster seats for children (offered on a first come first served basis) that can be used in either theatre. Patrons are also welcome to bring their own small booster seats. A limited number of wheelchair assists are available on a first come first served basis. See any ACT staff member or volunteer to access this service.

  • We offer Hearing Assist Headsets for patrons. Pre-arrange this service by emailing info@mract.org well in advance of the performance or event. You can return the headset at the bar after the event.

  • The ACT is wheelchair accessible from all three entrances to the building (Parkade, Edge St. and Haney Place). Please Note: There is no parking allowed in front of the building. There is elevator access to the building lobby from the underground public pay parking lot, and handicap parking spaces are available near the elevator entrance. There is above ground parking near the Edge St. entrance. All public exterior doorways have push-button activated automatic doors.

  • Our elevator and some orientation signage in the building has braille translation.

  • Patrons and personnel at The ACT are encouraged not to wear scented products or perfumes, however we do not enforce this recommendation, so patrons with severe scent allergies may wish to bring a respirator mask or other protective covering.

  • We have no restrictions on service animals however we do recommend purchasing accessible seats or aisle seats for productions in the Main Stage Theatre. To purchase accessible seats and for specific seating or accessibility inquiries, please visit us or call our Ticket Centre at (604) 476-2787. Other Animals: Companion animals (pets or other non-service animals) such as dogs and other medium or small animals are permitted into public areas of the building such as the Ticket Centre and lobby, but may not enter ticketed events, classes, or The ACT Art Gallery for the comfort of other patrons.

  • All beverages and food items must be pre-booked online prior to attending your performance or event. Our concession typically stocks options for a variety of allergies and dietary restrictions, however we cannot guarantee that these options will be available at all times. We regularly stock gluten-free, vegan and peanut-free options (however our facility is not peanut-free and some products sold at the concession may contain peanuts). Our bar regularly features: beer, wine, coolers, and high balls (for guests ages 19+); pop, juice, coffee, tea, and other seasonal beverages.
